



Domaine Chatelain is a family winery with a history that dates back to 1630, reaching today the 12th generation of winemakers. It is located in Pouilly-sur-Loire, France, and has 30 hectares of vineyards in the Pouilly-Fumé area, spread across six of the seven municipalities of the region: Tracy-sur-Loire, Pouilly-sur-Loire, Mesves-sur-Loire, Saint-Andelain, Saint-Laurent l'Abbaye, and Saint-Martin-sur-Nohain.
The vineyards extend over various types of soils, such as limestone and clay soils with white pebbles, as well as clay soils with flint. This variety of soils allows for the production of wines with different characteristics, offering a wide range of flavors and aromas. The winery specializes in the production of white wines from the Sauvignon Blanc and Chasselas varieties, with an emphasis on Pouilly-Fumé wines, but also achieves excellent results from the Sancerre area.

The grapes of the Sauvignon Blanc variety come from the ancient vineyard of the monks of Saint-Laurent L’Abbaye, dating back to the 12th century. It features the region's characteristic Kimmeridgian and Portlandian limestone soils, and the average age of the vines is about 35 years. The winemaking process takes place in stainless steel tanks and includes a period of aging on the lees to achieve its complex character. This wine has a bright, pale yellow color. On the nose, floral aromas emerge combined with mineral notes, while on the palate, the aromas of ripe white-fleshed fruits dominate. It is a wine with excellent structure and the characteristic minerality imparted by the region's soils.

Its name suggests the harmony of the different terroirs of the Appellation. The terroir of the vineyards is characterized by 80% Kimmeridgian and Portlandian limestone, while the remaining 20% of the soil is clayey with flint. This uniqueness is reflected in the wine through the mineral sensation it provides. The grapes come from vineyards with an average age of 40 years, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging on the lees, to impart the complexity that the wine possesses. Bright in appearance, with a soft golden-yellow color. Floral and fresh mint aromas emerge on the nose, while on the palate, there are notes of spices and a distinctly intense flint flavor that highlights its unique minerality.

This label from Chateau Chatelain comes from a vineyard called Le Champ du Charme and is characterized by a specific geological unit. 50% of the soil is clay-siliceous in the upper part and 50% is clay-limestone of Kimmeridgian type in the lower part of the vineyard. The average age of the vines is 25 years. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, and then about 30% of the volume ages in oak barrels for 10 months and is subsequently blended with the wine from the tanks. A portion then matures in tanks with the lees, while the rest ages in oak barrels. All of the above contributes to the production of a wine with a complex and refined character. This wine stands out for its bright golden-yellow color. On the nose, it reveals a clean and sophisticated aromatic character, with fresh notes of citrus and green fruits, combined with aromas of vanilla and toasted bread. On the palate, its taste is elegant and balanced, with a subtle presence of tannins from the wood.

This label comes from a vineyard called Les Chailloux, which means warm stones. It is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes, from a diverse terroir with vines averaging 40 years of age. The winemaking takes place in stainless steel tanks and is followed by a 3-month aging with the fine lees. Lively and expressive, this wine reveals fresh, mineral, and spicy notes on the nose, with a subtle mint aroma that adds freshness. On the palate, the minerality and spicy nuances create a balanced and elegant tasting experience.

Impressive wine produced exclusively from the oldest vines of the estate. It comes from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes from vines aged 40 to 50 years. The soil composition is representative of the Pouilly Fumé area (70% clay-limestone, 30% clay with flint), which is reflected in the wine with its characteristic mineral note. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging on fine lees with regular stirring for one year. The wine then ages for another year in the bottle before being released to the market. It has a clear and bright golden-yellow color. On the nose, it offers aromatic fullness with notes of flint, vanilla, ripe fruits, and honey. On the palate, it presents an exceptional balance, combining richness, power, and elegance.

A typical Sancerre... The Sauvignon Blanc vineyards have an average age of 20-30 years. When the grapes reach their maximum ripeness, the harvest takes place, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks. A fresh and expressive wine with a bright light yellow color and green highlights. On the nose, it reveals rich aromas of ripe lemon and grapefruit, offering an intense and fresh character. In the mouth, the taste is pleasant with a slight hint of mint.
