Silver Oak started from a handshake between two friends with a bold vision: to focus on a variety, Cabernet Sauvignon, that would age exclusively in American oak and be worthy of cellaring for decades.
Ray Twomey Duncan, an entrepreneur from Colorado who began investing in vineyards in California in the late 1960s, and Justin Meyer, a winemaker trained at Christian Brothers, founded Silver Oak in a dairy barn in Napa Valley in 1972, producing only 1,000 bottles from their first harvest.
Silver Oak Napa Valley was recognized as the first winery in the world with LEED Platinum certification for existing buildings, operations, and maintenance (EBOM) from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
It cultivates over 400 acres of vineyards in Napa Valley and Alexander Valley with an innovative approach to agriculture and viticulture, striving to have the least possible impact on natural resources and the environment.

For nearly 50 years, they have selectively acquired proprietary vineyards in Napa Valley and Alexander Valley—areas that possess the soil, climate, and terrains most suitable for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. Each site is planted and cultivated separately, section by section, row by row, according to its unique geography and soils. Relying on their own experience and the most advanced available science and technology, the production is carried out with the utmost care. This attention to detail is what produces impressive, consistently ripe fruit, harvest after harvest.
This wine has exciting notes of cedar and concentrated red fruit that dance gracefully on the palate. With its ruby color and smooth, well-crafted tannins, this wine offers a harmonious combination of depth and finesse. The strong acidity adds a refined touch to the long finish, with vibrant layers of fresh raspberry, cherry, and cola.
