La Rioja Alta, S.A. is a historic winery founded in 1890 by five families in Haro, Spain. Since then, the business has remained under the management of the families who founded it, maintaining the tradition and passion for producing high-quality wines. The winery has 425 hectares of vineyards and specializes in the production of red wines, with Tempranillo as its main variety, while also using small quantities of Mazuelo and Graciano.
La Rioja Alta, S.A. combines tradition with modern technology, such as the optical grape selection system, which was implemented in 2015. Placing great importance on oak and recognizing that the character of the wine is greatly influenced by it, they make their own barrels (currently numbering around 30,000) using entirely traditional methods. They import the wood from the United States and dry it outdoors for two years, while every six months, each barrel is manually moved under candlelight. It is an art to enhance the development of the wine, removing the sediment naturally and monitoring each barrel individually. After aging in barrels, the wines continue to mature in the bottle.
Everything is done with absolute respect for nature. Interventions in the vineyards are limited, they invest in clean energy, reuse water, and use corks and boxes that are managed in a sustainable way.

In their quest for perfection in white wine, the people of Grupo La Rioja Alta discovered O Rosal (Pontevedra) in 1988, purchasing the small family winery 'Fernández Cervera Hermanos'. There, they created the largest vineyard of the Albariñο white variety in the entire Rías Baixas region, which today covers 99 hectares. Its unique microclimate allows for early ripening, which in turn favors the quality of Lagar de Cervera and Pazo de Seoane Rosal wines, with a perfect balance of acidity, alcohol content, and aromatic intensity. These are young, fresh, elegant white wines that are ideal with appetizers, seafood, or fish. Since 2013, new, modern facilities have been in operation, featuring an impressive forest depicted on the fermentation tanks, creating a stunningly unique decoration that captivates visitors. while since 2021, it has been the first winery in Galicia to visually select the grapes that are harvested.
Lagar de Cereva is an exceptionally well-made wine with a bright and lively green-yellow color. It stands out for its perfectly distinct aromatic character from the Albariño variety. Notes of white fruits such as apple and pear dominate, with hints of ripe melon and a light background of citrus and flowers in the base. On the palate, it displays the characteristic freshness and intensity that is so typical of the variety. A very broad and powerful wine, with good structure and a long, persistent finish.

Torre de Oña: Terroir, serenity, elegance, uniqueness... These are the words that characterize the identity of the Torre de Oña winery. These concepts have prevailed since 1995, when Grupo La Rioja Alta S.A. took the lead in this exciting project with the aim of producing a wine of exceptional quality that would embody the unmistakable personality of one of the best terroirs in the renowned Rioja Alavesa region. It was a unique opportunity to take advantage of a location with exceptional potential to produce a wine that would reflect all this grandeur. Since 2005, great attention has been paid to studying the different plots of this vineyard. The land was divided into separate vineyard plots, each of which is vinified and aged separately. The best quality grapes are selected and only those harvests that meet the quality standards required for great wines of international renown are vinified. This is how the Finca Martelo and Finca San Martín wines were created.
Finca San Martin is made from Tempranillo grapes, harvested by hand and selected in the vineyard. The grapes are transported to the winery for natural alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, followed by 16 months of aging in American oak barrels (60% new) and second-use French oak barrels (40%), which are made in the winery. During this maturation, three traditional rackings are carried out by candlelight, transferring the wine from barrel to barrel by hand to separate the sediments and avoid aggressive filtration. The wine has a lively and bright purple color, of medium to high intensity. On the nose, it surprises with its high aromatic intensity, characteristic of Rioja Alavesa, with notes of blackberry, raspberry, and cranberry dominating. Pleasant notes of clove, vanilla, roasted coffee, caramel, and sweet licorice complete the profile. On the palate, it stands out for its balance, finesse, and pleasant sensation, thanks to the soft, friendly tannins that lead to a fruity, expressive finish. Delicate, refined, and well-balanced.

The Vina Alberdi wine, comes from Tempranillo grapes grown in privately owned vineyards with an average age of 40 years, in the Rodezno and Labastoda regions. The grapes are harvested by hand and selected in the vineyards. The grapes are transported in refrigerated trucks to the winery to preserve their characteristics and freshness. After strict quality control using optical sorters, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place naturally. This is followed by two years of aging in American oak barrels (new barrels in the first year and four-year-old barrels in the second), which are made at the winery. Four traditional rackings are carried out by candlelight, from barrel to barrel, and finally bottling takes place.
Intense and bright in appearance, with an attractive purple color and ruby highlights. On the nose, it stands out for its high intensity, with notes of red fruits—raspberries, wild strawberries, and red currants—dominate, wrapped in an intense balsamic aroma of caramel, vanilla, and roasted coffee. On the palate, it is rich, balanced, and fresh, with delicate and silky tannins, with the aromas of the nose continuing here as well. Long finish, with a fruity character and subtle hints of spices and vanilla.

Vina Ardanza is made from 80% Tempranillo grapes, grown in privately owned vineyards with an average age of 30 years, in the Cuesta (Cenicero) and Montecillo (Fuenmayor) areas. The remaining 20% is Garnacha grapes, which come from La Pedriza in Tudelilla, Rioja Oriental, a 40-hectare estate with excellent conditions for growing this variety. The grapes are harvested by hand, with the first selection of bunches taking place in the vineyard. The grapes are transported in refrigerated trucks to preserve their freshness and, after visual selection, alcoholic fermentation begins, followed by malolactic fermentation. This is followed by aging in American oak barrels, which are made in the winery. Thirty-six months for Tempranillo and 30 months for Garnacha (20% new barrels) are enough to give us an exceptional wine with a beautiful, refined personality.

Pepper, licorice, clove, vanilla, caramel, and nutmeg compose a highly appealing aromatic profile. Fresh and balanced on the palate, with delicate and velvety tannins and the aromas of the nose flooding the palate until its long finish.

Expressive and intense nose with fruit in the foreground. The initial explosion of wild strawberry is followed by notes of blackberry and blackcurrant, which give way to subtle spicy and peppery hints and traces of cedar, licorice, and yeast. Exceptional quality wine, with grapes giving their best character. The altitude and orientation of the vineyards contribute significantly to their perfect ripening, which, together with the terroir, is reflected in the wine. Another label from La Rioja Alta, S.A. that has received high reviews and ratings.
It comes from the Tempranillo (95%) and Mazuelo (2%) varieties grown in the Briñas, Labastida, and Villalba vineyards, and the Graciano (3%) variety from the Montecillo vineyard. The harvest is carried out manually, with an initial selection of grapes in the vineyard. The grapes are transported to refrigerators at the winery to maintain their quality and, after gentle destemming and crushing, the alcoholic fermentation takes place. The Tempranillo and Mazuelo grapes were mixed in the vineyard and fermented together, while the Graciano was vinified separately. Malolactic fermentation took place naturally. The best wines are then selected and aged for six years in barrels, undergoing ten traditional rackings. During this period, the barrels that best represent the character of Gran Reserva 890 are carefully selected and bottled.

At the end of 1980s, La Rioja Alta, S.A. conducted a study of the soils at various points in the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin region. The results showed that conditions were particularly favorable for the production of quality wines with their own personality in the Anguix/La Horra area of Burgos. In 1993, once the area had been defined, they acquired old vines (El Otero) and created the Áster winery. In 2000, after years of experimentation and after selling the first five grape harvests because they did not meet their quality standards, they achieved their first bottling.
The Finca el Otero, is made from Tempranillo (or Tinta del País) grapes from El Otero. A vineyard with dry, low-fertility, slightly eroded clay-loam slopes at an altitude of 850 m, ideal conditions for the style of this particular wine. The harvest takes place early in the morning, taking advantage of the low temperatures to carry out natural pre-fermentation cold extraction for a week and then start spontaneous alcoholic fermentation. The wine is transferred to new French oak barrels, where, over a period of 92 days, it completes malolactic fermentation with weekly stirring of the lees. This process plays a decisive role in the rich and refined character of the wine. The aging takes place in new French oak barrels for 16 months.
Clear and bright in appearance, with an intense ruby color, great depth, and purple highlights. Intense and expressive aromatic profile, full of ripe red and black fruits, such as blackcurrant and blueberry, with notes of mocha, clove, vanilla, and nutmeg embracing them. The subtle hints of mint lift both the nose and the palate, as its full aromatic potential follows through there as well. Balanced, with very good structure, soft and round tannins, and a long fruity finish with spicy elements.

The Áster Crianza is a single-varietal red wine made from Tempranillo grapes grown in the Fuentecojo, La Cueva, and Otero Joven vineyards surrounding the winery in Anguix, Burgos. They are planted in clay-loam soils at an altitude of 780 meters, which promises excellent ripening of the grapes and the unique character of the wine. The harvest is carried out manually, selecting the best grapes in visual sorting tables. After 15 days of fermentation and extraction, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels with weekly bâtonnages for two months. It is aged for 16 months in new French oak barrels (75%), with the remainder in two-year-old French oak barrels.
Bright in appearance, with intense black cherry color and ruby highlights. The nose is characterized by high complexity, where ripe black fruits and wild berry notes combine harmoniously, with the intense aromas from aging coming discreetly to the fore: licorice, clove, pepper, and toasted bread. The palate is full-bodied, with powerful yet soft, silky tannins, a very good balance between acidity and alcohol, leading to an intense, long, and complex finish.
