During his research into Arnaldo Strucchi (1853–1913), Paolo Dalla Mora became fascinated by the life and publishing work of this extraordinary figure. Strucchi, a pioneering winemaker, director and partner of Gancia — one of Italy’s historic wineries — was the author of one of the most detailed guides on the production of Vermouth di Torino, published in 1907.
In his book, Strucchi meticulously describes every aspect of vermouth production, from the selection of the wines to the herbs used for infusion, capturing the essence of this craft and laying the foundations for what would later evolve into the Vermouth of Torino Consortium.
The Strucchi series is a tribute to his passion and enduring influence on the world of vermouth. As part of this tribute, Strucchi’s book Il Vermouth di Torino was republished in Italian, English, German and French, with the proceeds going towards the restoration of his grave in Canelli.
Strucchi is a contemporary vermouth brand with the aim of bringing Vermouth back to the glorious days of the early 1900s, when “Vermouth Hour” was an unmissable social ritual, bringing together people from all walks of life in Turin’s bars for a pre-dinner aperitivo.
The brand adapts tradition to the tastes of the modern consumer. The result is a range of three versatile and immediately approachable vermouths — Bianco, Rosso and Dry — crafted from a blend of Italian wines, alongside a Bitter that flirts with the essence of mixology.
The 20th century — from the roaring years of the 1920s to the faded elegance of the Italian bourgeoisie of the 1970s — serves as a source of inspiration for the Strucchi brand, which seeks to revive a world where aperitivo is enjoyed slowly, in discreetly luxurious restaurants and exclusive members’ clubs, furnished with mid-century pieces and Art Nouveau accents.
