Domaine Vacheron is among the top Sancerre estates, known for its white and red Sancerre wines that offer exceptional purity and typicity. The estate has been fully converted to biodynamic farming, certified by Biodyvin in 2005.
Jean-Dominique and Jean-Laurent Vacheron, having inherited some of the most sought-after vineyards in the appellation of origin, apply a Burgundian approach to the winemaking of Sancerre. Each vineyard is vinified individually, with the blends varying from year to year.
Almost all of Vacheron's vineyards are located on hard, mineral flint soil. The estate's biggest goal is to showcase this unique soil property. The "basic" Sancerre blanc comes from vines planted on the fault line between the flint and the caillottes (hard limestone fragments).
Today, Jean-Dominique and Jean-Laurent cultivate 34 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and 11 hectares of Pinot Noir. Starting with a few rows of vines in the famous Les Romains vineyard, the estate has gradually begun to acquire small plots in some of the most sought-after lieu-dits of the appellation of origin, such as Guigne Chèvre, En Grands Champs, Paradis and Chambrates.

Les Marnes owes its name to the characteristic clay soil, which gives the wine unique mineral notes. The aromas are rich with rich notes of red cherries and red plums, while subtle peppery notes add depth and composition. On the palate , the wine is fresh and full-bodied, and the mineral notes combine harmoniously with intense fruity characteristics, creating a powerful and refined tasting experience.

With cellars located in the charming hilltop town of Sancerre, Jean-Laurent and Jean-Dominique Vacheron have vineyards mainly in the eastern part of the town on hard, igneous soils, as well as smaller holdings on softer limestone and clay soils. Sancerre's "village" bottling draws from both terroirs to create a fine, mineral and thoroughly satisfying wine. One of the few Sancerre estates that are harvested entirely by hand, this wine is fermented with local yeasts and aged in tank for at least 4 months before bottling. Bright, pale yellow in appearance, with pleasant fruity and floral aromas, herbal and citrus notes, dominated by grapefruit and lemon zest, and slightly spicy pepper nuances. It has mineral accents and volume showing a medium body supported by good acidity.

The Vacheron cousins own 1 hectare of vines in the vineyard with its unique characteristics, Le Paradis. The vineyard is located on a steep south-facing slope with shallow limestone soils. The soil is so thin and poor that the roots of the vines grow deep in the crevices of the rock below. Le Paradis is an invitation to freshness and elegance. Produced from the finest grapes, it seduces with its brilliant colour and explosive character, where intense aromas of fresh citrus, white flowers and pure minerality take centre stage. Full on the palate with mineral notes and high acidity that gives freshness.

Les Romains is a vineyard, with a sandy terroir located in the eastern part of the Sancerre region. Here the soils bear a strong resemblance to the terroir on the opposite bank of the Loire River, in Pouilly-Fumé. In its composition you will find clay with limestone and siliceous sand, elements that contribute to the particular mineral taste and character of the wines. In Sancerre Les Romains, there is a certain smoky note, supported by a spicy and delicate fruity citrus flavour, with grapefruit as the protagonist. Bright appearance, with a medium straw yellow colour. Expressive on the nose, it embraces its smoky complexion with notes of white-fleshed fruit, apple and lime zest, combined with traces of wood and herbs. Round, elegant, with a silky texture and subtle acidity that lifts it.

The Guigne Chèvres is a vineyard with a northern exposure and complex soil, consisting of flint over a shallow layer of limestone and red clay. The wine that produced here is intense and nervy, with strong citrus and herbal aromas. Over time in the glass, minerality characteristics emerge from the flint. Aging is for 12 months in large, vertical oak Stockinger barrels. Brilliant appearance, with an attractive straw yellow colour and golden highlights. Complex and delicate on the nose, with a fruity and herbal character. Notes of stone, salt and iodine are complemented by ripe white-fleshed fruit. Full-bodied and intense on the palate, with the nose flavors leading the way and complemented by subtle notes of lime, apple, pear and pepper. Charming, with a long finish.
