Domaine Vacheron is among the top Sancerre estates, known for its white and red Sancerre wines that offer exceptional purity and typicity. The estate has been fully converted to biodynamic farming, certified by Biodyvin in 2005.
Jean-Dominique and Jean-Laurent Vacheron, having inherited some of the most sought-after vineyards in the appellation of origin, apply a Burgundian approach to the winemaking of Sancerre. Each vineyard is vinified individually, with the blends varying from year to year.
Almost all of Vacheron's vineyards are located on hard, mineral flint soil. The estate's biggest goal is to showcase this unique soil property. The "basic" Sancerre blanc comes from vines planted on the fault line between the flint and the caillottes (hard limestone fragments).
Today, Jean-Dominique and Jean-Laurent cultivate 34 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and 11 hectares of Pinot Noir. Starting with a few rows of vines in the famous Les Romains vineyard, the estate has gradually begun to acquire small plots in some of the most sought-after lieu-dits of the appellation of origin, such as Guigne Chèvre, En Grands Champs, Paradis and Chambrates.

With cellars located in the charming hilltop town of Sancerre, Jean-Laurent and Jean-Dominique Vacheron have vineyards mainly in the eastern part of the town on hard, igneous soils, as well as smaller holdings on softer limestone and clay soils. Sancerre's "village" bottling draws from both terroirs to create a fine, mineral and thoroughly satisfying wine. One of the few Sancerre estates that are harvested entirely by hand, this wine is fermented with local yeasts and aged in tank for at least 4 months before bottling. Bright, pale yellow in appearance, with pleasant fruity and floral aromas, herbal and citrus notes, dominated by grapefruit and lemon zest, and slightly spicy pepper nuances. It has mineral accents and volume showing a medium body supported by good acidity.
