Charles Ballot is a passionate and full of life man. He is the heir to a very old family estate in Meursault and represents the sixteenth generation of winegrowers.
It all started in 1630, when Charles Ballot's mother's family acquired their
first vineyards. The Domaine was founded at the beginning of the 18th century. Although over the years it was broken up due to hereditary succession, it was kept almost intact for more than two hundred years. It has been twenty years since Charles Ballot enthusiastically took up the baton of this famous wine heritage.
The estate produces 60,000 bottles a year of some twenty of the most famous Côte de Beaune appellations. It covers more than ten hectares of vineyards: 8 hectares of white Chardonnay in the communes of Meursault and Chassagne Montrachet, 2 hectares of Pinot Noir in Pommard, Volnay and Beaune, and half a hectare of Aligoté. The average age of the vines is 45 years. Respecting his exceptional heritage and wanting to preserve the environment, Charles Ballot, combines traditional family methods with modern viticulture and winemaking techniques.

Aligoté is an ancient Burgundian grape variety, which almost disappeared, but is now coming back and giving very beautiful results. This is no exception. It has a soft golden colour with a balanced flavour. It exudes aromas of green apple and lemon, with subtle floral notes that give it freshness, while the palate is characterised by freshness and a spiciness that lifts it.
