The Taste of Islay
Widely regarded as the Scotland's Whisky Island, Islay is home to fewer than 4.000 residents, yet eight of some of the world's finest single malt distilleries. The first licensed Islay distillery, established in 1779 is Bowmore. Working with the finest quality oak casks and a tradition that's been passed through generations, Bowmore has been refining its craft for over 240 years. An unrivalled heritage, the soft fresh water from the nearby River Laggan, the barley malted in the proprietary malt barns, the perfectly-timed fermentation periods with a cocktail of cultivated yeast and the magnificent character of Islay, create the BOWMORE Sigle Malt Whisky.
Built on the shores of Loch Indaal, a sea loch opening out into the wild Atlantic Ocean, Bowmore has drawn inspiration from its stunning surroundings. Islay is home to some if the oldest strata in the world. These rocks have been shaped by the wild elements of the island over the years and are linked to the origins of the distillery's name of the distillery. Bowmore, “Bogh Mor”, in Scottish Gaelic means “great sea reef”.
Bowmore Whiskies reflect the magical character of the Island, through the complex balance of mild Islay smokiness, maritime minerality, with an abundance of fresh stone fruit notes.

The nine-year-old single malt from the Bowmore distillery is an interesting opportunity to taste this peaty whisky in its freshest version, where the characteristic Islay smoke, citrus and honey notes give it its purest character.
